MOORPARK AYSO 2022 ALL-STAR PROGRAM

Introduction:

Coaches interested in the All-Star program must fill out the coaching application and return it to either any board member or the tournaments director or All-Star coordinator or email it to [email protected]

I.                 Purpose of Program:

The purpose of the All-Star program is to create team of coaches and players from the primary program. The coaches and players must have demonstrated superior skills, effort, attitude, team play and commitment to continue to develop their coaching and playing skills in a more competitive environment against teams with similar skills. 

Neither coaches nor players that participated in the Extra program or AYSO United during the season are eligible to participate in the All-Star program.

II.               All-Star Coach Eligibility and Selection Process:

All-Star coaches will be selected by the Postseason Coach Selection Committee. The selection committee comprise of Regional Commissioner, All-Star Coordinator, Tournaments Director, Competitive Divisions Director, Division Coordinators, Regional Referee Administrator, and the Regional Registrar. The All-Star Coordinator and Tournament Directors will be the chairpersons of the Committee.

Specific criteria  for All-Star Coach Selection 

All-Star Coaches (and Assistant Coaches) must meet the following minimum requirements: 

1.      Must have been a coach or assistant coach in AYSO in the 2022 Fall Season.

2.      Follows the AYSO Coaching Philosophy

3.      Must have the minimum certification required for that age division; and

4.      Must have a current Volunteer Form on file, completed livescan and have fulfilled all required mandated training including SafeSport, CDC Concussion Awareness, Safe Haven. 

In selecting “A”, “B” or “C” Team coaches, the Selection Committee will consider, among other things, coaching ability, years of experience, higher levels of coaching certifications, additional training accomplished, discipline record, and demonstrated sportsmanship of the candidate.  Volunteer service to the Region will also be considered.  The Selection Committee will select All-Star Coaches based upon the Applications received and/or the Competitive Division Director’s and Division Coordinators’ recommendations. The 2022/2023 All-Star Coaches will be announced on or before Friday, October 21st.

III.             All-Star Player Criteria & Eligibility

Players will be selected for All-Stars based on the following:

· Can properly represent our region in Area and Section play

· Consistently demonstrates good sportsmanship

· Has a commitment to soccer (both player and family)

· Demonstrates “All-Star” level of soccer ability

· Participated in 70% of that season’s regional season matches, either playing or cheering in accordance with the Adequate Participation Policy.

· Is a member of a Primary Program Region 363 team at the end of the current regional season and played in the division for which he/she is being selected.

Player Selection 

There is no guarantee that every Fall team will have a player on the All-Star team, or that an equal number of players will come from each Fall team.

·  Head coaches are required to rate ALL the players on their team and will have the opportunity to simultaneously nominate those players they believe are of the caliber to play on an All-Star Team. 

·  Coaches should be sure to nominate players who have strong defensive skills, as well as those with strong offensive skills.

·  Each coach may also separately nominate a goalkeeper for the team, provided that the coach sincerely believes his or her goalkeeper is inthe top 3-4 goalkeepers in our Region for their Division. This player must be willing to play goalkeeper as his or her primary position if named to the All-Star team. 

IV.             Number of Teams and Players 

A, B or C teams for U10 Girls & Boys, each with 9 players

A &/or B teams for U12 Girls and U12 Boys, each with 11-12 players. 

A teams for U14 Girls and U14 Boys, each with 13-14 players. 

V.               Confidentiality 

To avoid disappointing players, all aspects of the All-Star selection process must be kept confidential. Coaches should not discuss who they nominated, who was selected as a player for any team or who was selected as an alternate until AFTER the Doug Johnston Memorial on November 12th.  The Head Coaches will then notify families that their players have been invited to play on the All-Star team.  This process may take several days to complete. 

VI.             Player & Family Commitment 

Participation in All-Stars involves a significant commitment of time and must be given priority over other activities other than school and participation on a play-off team. Practices and tournaments are held around the holidays. Travel outside of region 363 fields may be required.  Players failing to live up to their commitment may have a negative impact on their team’s chances.

All-Star Program Overview:

The purpose of All-Stars is to provide those Coaches and Players that have demonstrated superior skills, effort, attitude, team play and commitment the opportunity to continue to develop their coaching and playing skills in a more competitive environment against teams with similar skills. 

 

All-Star Coaches:

    All-Star Coach Selection Committee:

Region 363 has formed an All-Star Selection Committee comprised of the Regional Commissioner, Post-Season Coordinator, Competitive Divisions Director and Division Coordinators. The Post-Season Coordinator will be the chairperson of the Committee.

    Coach Selection 

All Coaches interested in being the Head-Coach of an All-Star team within their Division are strongly encouraged to apply by submitting a completed 2015 All-Star Coach Application (attached).  All-Star Coach applications are due by or before Wednesday, October 14th.  Applications must be either emailed to the Post-Season Coordinator, Andrew Spett, at [email protected], or hand-delivered to a Moorpark AYSO Board Member at the Administration table at the fields.

The 2015/16 All-Star Coaches will be announced on or before Sunday, October 18th. 

 

All-Star Players:

    Eligibility 

All-Stars is open to players in U10, U12 and U14 who played in Region 363’s Fall Season.  Players participating in our EXTRA / CHALLENGE Programs are not eligible to participate in All-Stars.
