Veterans Memorial Competition Format
NOTE:
Area 10E League Playoff Tournament
Teams will only be invited to the area play-offs if coaches are properly certified and the team has enough referee and volunteer points. Finishing placement in VM event followed by finishing position in the league will determine replacement teams if necessary - check your current totals here. Referee and Volunteer points earned on the 15th will be counted toward the eligibility requirements for all age groups.
Please note that the Area 10E tournament is an INVITATIONAL tournament, and the board reserves the right not to invite any team whose players, coaches or parents do not behave to the expected AYSO standards during the Veterans Memorial Competition
10U
2 teams in each division will be invited to Area play-offs - from 12 Boys teams, 9 Girls teams
For Boys and Girls - top two teams in league play automatically qualify for area tournament (though see note above), and will play each other for seeding
For Boys - remaining teams play two single elimination tournaments, one for those finishing in the upper half of the league table, and one for those in the lower half to determine VM champions
For Girls - remaining teams play one single elimination tournament to determine VM champion
12U
2 Girls teams, 1 Boys team will be invited to Area play-offs - from 9 Girls teams, 8 Boys teams
The top team in league play automatically qualifies for area tournament (though see note above)
Boys - All teams will play a single elimination tournament seeded by finishing league position to determine VM champion
Girls - teams 2 through 9 in league standings play single elimination event to determine VM champion and 2nd Area invite. VM Champion plays 1st placed league team for area tournament seeding
14U
2 Boys teams, 1 Girls team will be invited to Area play-offs - from 4 Boys teams, 2 Girls teams
Teams progressing to Area play-offs determined by results of the VM event, which will be played on 11/8. VM event seeded by Area play results (11/1 games not included)
Both Boys VM finalists will progress to Area play-offs (though see note above), seeded per the result of the final
Playing times – games are 20 minute halves for U10 and U12, and 25 minutes for U14.
There will be no coin toss - home team will select which end to defend and visiting team will kick-off
If teams are tied at the end of regular time, there will be no extra time, and the winner is determined through penalties - best of 5 penalties, sudden death if tied after the first 5.
For all U10 and U12 games going to penalties, except in the final rounds, penalties will be taken on Field 10 to avoid delaying the games following on the original field. U14 will stay on Field 1 to take penalties, if required.
Schedule - U10 and U12 Schedules will be published as soon as possible after 11/8 to ensure that as much as is possible there no conflicts for multi-team coaches
